Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite brings a big leap in on-device AI to XR glasses

Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite arrives with 60% more GPU, 30% more CPU and 160% more NPU performance than the XR2+ Gen 2 — 48 TOPS of on-device AI, in silicon meant for glasses light enough to actually wear. It ships this autumn in Xreal's Aura.

Read the spec sheet and one thing stands out by its absence: audio.

The XR silicon race is measured in pixels, passthrough latency and thermal headroom. All of it matters. But the reason a room feels alive is not the frame rate. It is whether what you hear and what you see move together.

That is the headroom we build into. More on-device AI means live sound can drive the moving lights and the 3D scene at once, untethered, with nothing rendered in advance.

The hardware is finally ready for audio-first immersive work. Most of the industry is still looking at the picture.
