Luminate launches an industry-wide label for AI-generated music

Luminate, the company that supplies the data behind the Billboard charts, just built the infrastructure to label AI music industry-wide.

On August 25, Luminate introduced a global framework to identify and measure AI-generated tracks across its CONNECT platform. Any song or artist profile the system flags gets one label, "AI Generated," with a dedicated review process for disputes. Luminate is working directly with major streaming services and AI music companies to fold self-disclosed and detected data into the same system, with rollout to customers and partners planned later this year.

That is a different kind of move than one platform setting its own recommendation rules. Spotify decided how AI Personas surface inside its own app. Luminate sits underneath every chart and catalogue report the industry reads, across DSPs. Get this labeling right and "AI-generated" becomes a category the whole industry measures the same way at once, not a policy that changes at the app store.
