Lenskart designs its own AI smart glasses in India

India's largest eyewear retailer is now building AI hardware in-house.

Lenskart, which sought a valuation of up to $7.9 billion ahead of its November 2025 listing and runs more than 2,100 stores across India, has moved beyond importing and reselling frames. Its 'B by Lenskart' smart glasses run on Qualcomm's AR1 chip with Google's Gemini AI built in, handle UPI payments on-device, and are designed and engineered in-house rather than white-labelled. Early access opened in March at ₹22,000, with commercial pricing set at ₹27,000 — a fraction of what imported AI glasses cost landed in India. The waitlist crossed 35,000 registrations within six weeks of opening.

That is a different route to mainstream adoption than waiting for global brands to localise their pricing. A company that already owns the retail shelf space and the manufacturing relationships behind it just became a smart-glasses maker, not merely a channel for one.

Retail scale is starting to build the hardware, not just sell it.
