An immersive venue in London is handing an entire live show to an AI agent, with no script to fall back on.

GAWD v. The People premiered in the Immersive Competition at this year's Festival de Cannes. It opens to the public at Lightroom in King's Cross from September 17 to 26. Judge GAWD, an AI agent, presides over a trial of humanity: audience members volunteer as witnesses, AI-led testimony argues against humanity's case, and every exchange feeds live into the model. The verdict is improvised on the spot, so no two performances end the same way.

The production runs on 28 Panasonic laser projectors and two HOLOPLOT X1 Matrix Array spatial audio systems — the same array used at the Sphere in Las Vegas — inside a venue built for that scale of work.

The interesting part isn't the courtroom premise. It's the bet underneath it: a major immersive venue trusting an unscripted, audience-driven AI narrative to hold up live, night after night, at Sphere-grade technical production. That shifts the risk from "did we author this well" to "can the system perform live" — a different production model from content authored once and played back the same way every show.

If venues start budgeting for live, improvisational work as its own category rather than a one-off experiment, that changes what immersive content gets commissioned next.
