Adobe just made AI-generated music, voiceover and sound effects a standard menu item inside Firefly — not a separate app, a feature next to crop and color correct.

Generate Music, Generate Speech and Generate Sound Effects moved out of limited release into general availability on August 20, with commercially licensed, takedown-safe output built in by default. Five days later, ElevenLabs shipped Composer, letting a verse be rewritten or a chorus moved into a different key without touching the rest of the song — arriving twelve days after Suno's own production-suite upgrade, and a month after Google added the same kind of editing to Flow Music.

Four companies shipped editable, composable AI audio tools inside five weeks of each other. That is not four unrelated launches. It is a category deciding, all at once, that generation alone was never the product — editing and control are.

The bigger signal is where Adobe put it: inside the editor millions of people already open for video, not a destination app you have to discover. AI-generated audio just moved from novelty to infrastructure.
